The ‘Gitopadesha’
depicted here started as a means of spiritual attainment, ‘yogopanishad’ (see Ch.4.
3; 2.39) that reveals the secret Brahmajnyan.
A sincere devotee who can really understand and practice this yoga will soon be
blessed with realization. But, it is very difficult to understand the Lord’s
words since it is highly esoteric, full of secrets (rahasyamaya), atigUDha,full
of codes, imageries, and symbols. The Lord is expressing the inexplicable since
He only is capable of it! He reveals many techniques, paths of liberation, and
the seekers may chose any of them or none and still reach Him by mere
surrendering to His Will. The paths are many but the destination is one. It all
depends on the earnestness and steadfastness of the seeker and his mental
disposition, svabhava.
Gitopasana
is a wonderful pathway to Brahman. Mukti from Bhava sagara is obtained in a slow
and steady way through practice of yoga by taking to shravana, manana, chintana, satsang, svadhyaya and nidhidhyasana, and the Gita pathana with daily prayer (Ch.10.
7). This is the secret of success, peace and happiness.
The central theme of the Bhagavad-Gita is thus to
enlighten the confused mind, (addressed as Arjuna), actually not so, but covered by moha it appears to be! The enlightenment comes from
the instructions of the Guru, the sarvajnya (Ominiscient), the Paramatman, Lord Shree Krishna.
Hence, the Gitopadesha comes here as Atmajnyan, as revealed by Bhagavan Sri
Krishna. It is the spiritual knowledge, obtained from yoga. Thus, the spiritual essence of the Gita is
presented here as yogopanishat, brahma Jnyan, that redeems the embodied
soul once for all.
Another beautiful way of visualizing brahman under the principle of sarvam khalvidam brahma is that 'the human body is so designed as to realize the avyakta niraakara Brahman in the vyaktarupa jivatman appearing in a state of embodiment through practice of yoga- pranayama and activationg the kundalini.
