Human Energy- Potential and the Kinetic

'Energy' is an eternal aspect that is neither created nor destroyed. However, it is not clear whether this energy is potential or kinetic as long as the effect i not seen. For instance, a river possesses both potential and kinetic and the potential is never fully harnessed! The enrgy prodiced from a waterfall in the form of electricity is almost nothing as compared to the full potential. So also, the potential of a raio-active mineral; we have harnessed almost nothing!Even so, in the case of the humans.  There is enormous potential human resources and almost nothing has been harnessed!
The human resource potential is not restricted to the physical or mental, but to the spiritual as well! The physical is restricted to the capacity of a person according to his / her age and build. The sumo wrestler is an example. An adult can do some work that cannot be done by a child or an old person. Similarly, there are certain fields where, a person can do some work that cannot be either expected of, or even imagined by others. One can see a porter carrying two or three suitcases and kit bags-all at a time, or laborers loading or unloading food grain bags of 60 Kgs. easily It is open to question whether the work done by a person is proportional to the food one eats or there is some other factors affecting this entire process of working capacity and ability of people to work. A professor delivers a lecture on a subject for hours and hours and a computer operator works on a computer for a few minuts and gets tired. In all these cases, the potential exists and that which is harnessed is extremely less.
The capacity of a person to do physical work is different from that of persons who use their intelligence, may we call it, brain? The mental abilities of a person are also limited. Some can do more and some less, but the potential is there. It may depend on the skill development, the level of technological development, facilities available, etc. All these aside, the potential is there. Some technologically advanced countries may boast of the skill of their people like Korea in computers! Indians have made name in computer applications.
But, when it comes to spiritual development, the potential harnessed so far is almost nothing! What is this spiritual potential? Is it just the number of missionaries preaching Buddhism,Hinduism, Islam, or Jainism? It is just akin to a college lecturer in the department of philosophy or religion. The potential is declared as 'brahmn', the ultimate! How many have harnessed this power, the potential of attaining to the 'brahmn'? So far none! At best, some may have attained the status of being recognized as a great scientist, mathematician or a eminent person in  a certain faculty. Some are intelligent to mend things, nut few could crete! Hence, whatever one has attained in the physical world does not count at all since people soon forget all that has gone by! Nobody will ever look into the oled when some hing new takes its place. Galileo, Newton, and Einstein are all now part of history. But here is one whom the entire world remembers for ages after ages. The Buddha and the Mahavira have taken almost a permanent place in the minds of the people. Bhagavan Sri Krishna of the Bhagavad-Gita is an eternal deified and deifying force! Anybody can become a Bhagavan by merely discarding what one has acquired, not by accumulating! If Gautama can become the Buddha, you and I can also become one. Infact what the scriptures say is that, "There is nothing to attain or become, since you are already that! Just realize the brahmn. "Thou art That", Shvetaketu, says Sage Aruni Uddalaka.
What is this attaining to the 'brahmn'? Is it just sitting cross-legged in lotus position (padmasana) with eyes half-closed and palms in a certain mudra? May be, yes. some may say, no;, it is not just that? Then what is it? Nobody knows? Why? Why is it we do not know what is 'brahmn'? The answer is very simple. It is full potential and the harnessed or the kinetic is not known! It is also said, that the potential and the kinetic are one in this state of 'brahmn'. It may be like the Railway Engine full of steam ready to move, but not yet started. There are a number of factors involved in this. May be, it is not yet clear whether the engine is capable of moving or not. Also, it is possible some body has to permit it to move? Or, it is also possible that its driver is absent! It is not yet clear where it should go.
Thus, the spiritual potential of the humans is known to reach that of 'brahmn' and so far nobody has ever prepared himself/herself for the journey to attain to this! Some may even argue that so and so has attained! But, the reality here is that it, the brahmn, is not something to be attained. It is a state where the starting point and the destination are one and the engine is at rest. Hence, the engine is not expected to move and go anywhere! Whoever knows this has attained to the brahmn, so declare al the scriptures- the Brahma sutras, the Bhagavad-Gita, the Upanishads, and the Veda,
The wise man should merge his speech in his mind and his mind in his intellect. He should merge his intellect in the Cosmic Mind and the Cosmic Mind in the Tranquil Self. Arise! Awake! Approach the great and learn.Like the sharp edge of a razor is that path; so, the wise say, it is ‘hard to tread and difficult to cross’.
Having realised Atman, which is soundless, intangible, formless, undecaying and likewise tasteless, eternal and odourless; having realised That which is without beginning and end, beyond the Great and unchanging-one is freed from the jaws of death.

The wise man that has heard and related the eternal story of Nachiketa, told by Death, is adored in the world of Brahman. And he who, practising self-control, recites the supreme secret in an assembly of Brahmins or at ‘an after-death’ ceremony obtains thereby infinite rewards. Yea, he obtains infinite rewards. [Yajur Veda, Katha Upanishad, Part One, Chapter III, 13-17].
Om tat sat iti .
