Spiritual Pursuits

The scriptures emphatically assure absolute calmness, supreme bliss and the highest seat- param padam where mahat ananda is there. But to climb to this height is not within the capabilities of ordinary people since they feel they are limited. In fact, it is the diffidence, feeling of  smallness that keps them away from trying. The Lord assures all help to those who are determined and show perseverance, single pointed approach- dhruti. He says, come one foot toward Me, I shall come ten feet towards you; come ten feet, I shall come hundred feet towards you! Why hesitate, look at Me I shall take you by hand! The highest truth is this merger in brahmn. Bhagavad-Gita is all about this merger in brahmn. The Lord assures his kind and benevolent disposition toward the devotees. There is no disappointment in love with God.
Now, there is a problem regarding what to do existing the abstract, the absolute, the quietude? Is its anyway enjoyable? Yes. It is not enjoyable. To enjoy one needs senses, mind, egoand buddhi. But, to enjoy the supreme bliss, nothing of these sorts are required. Hence, most of the sensuous people do not like this very idea of spiritual pursuit. But, "fools, mudah," says Krishna, "do not know the true nature of the self. The very nature of the self is this quietude. ayam atmaa brahmn | Moreover, whatever is the manifest is not real. The unmanifest is the true. Every jiva has this tendency to attain, reach, move toward this absolute from the limited unreal concrete existence in  time, space, and causality. Thus, the goal of every jiva should be to reach toward its natural original state. It is the only way to be happy and joyful without the accompanying misery and unhappiness that accompanies a worldly person.Hence, all the saints, jnyanis strive to sit calm and stay in brahmn, quietude.
