The Vedic prayer is:
"Lead me from darkness to Light; lead me from untruth to truth; lead me from death to immortality".
asato ma sadgamaya; tamaso ma jyotirgamaya; mrutuor ma rutam gamaya ||
To this prayer of the devotee the Lord replied:
"thou art the sat; thou art the Light; and, thou art the immortal"
"Thou art That". tattvamasi |
The devotee contemplated on these: 'sat', the Light, and the 'Immortal Atman, realized the truth in the state of transcendental meditation (turiyatita prjanya) and exclaimed: "So I am:, "aham brahmasmi"|
