Gods and Men (contd.)

All the Indian devi devata are the most powerful, benevolent and protective Shakti, supernatural powers. They are called bhukti-mukti-prada, meaning, who deliver what we want to enjoy, as also, ultimately redeem us at the end! These powers are both outside (in the sky/Akash), as well as, inside of us as devotion,  'faith', firm conviction in our mind). Our faith make us think that there is an external unforeseen force (adrushtha shakti) governing our life- desire, resolve, thoughts and actions. 'Desire is said to be brahmn'. It is 'Lord's will', Ishvara iccha, we say. Even our birth, breathing, and day-to-day activities are not in our hands. As children, we may not understand; but, as we grow up circumstances turn up in such a way that everything is determined by some chance, luck, destiny. There are turning points in life. All these are termed ones prarabhda or karma.
How our devi devatas help us is very interesting. There may be people who do not believe in all these; but who cares? It is the experience that speaks, the inner feeling, the understanding of the scriptures that help us and keep us happy and peaceful. There are people constantly chant the name of their choice, ishta devata, and get intuition knowledge. They overcome obstacles and succeed in life. It is experience that speaks here. There are no arguments in this regard. In what way do these devi devatas help us is another question and it is interesting to answer them here.
Our devi devatas are not in thousands, but in millions! The upanishads explain all these.  The student asks the teacher-
"How many devi devatas are there?"
 The teacher replies:
It is "320000 million".
Student: Can this be reduced?
Teacher: Yes. it will be33000.
Student: Can it be further reduced?
Teacher: Yes. It is 33.
Student: Can it be further reduced?
Teacher: Yes. It is 3.
Student: Can it be further reduced?
Teacher: Yes. it is one only.
Further, the teacher adds, "In fact there is nothing like the devi and devatas anywhere since all that exists is the Self, the Atman only; and, that Atman is brahman that is nameless, formless, and has no attributes whatsoever!"
Moreover, everybody exists in this state in deep sleep (sushupti), in coma, and in samadhi. However, only those in samadhi really experience this state of brahman, that is 'nothingness;. Everybody goes into this state now and then but will not realize it since only that totally silent abstract state exists at that time. If there are two or more, one can see, know or feel about that 'an other'. When one only exists in a state of absolute non-existent,  dynamic silence (atyantaabhava) , sublime or subtle state of stillness, who can experience what?
This aspect of absolute stillness is explained by physicists as the Einstein -Bose Condensate- a state where there is almost no vibration or movement of electrical charges in particles. In this state, the brain cells that number in millions condense into a molecule at 0 Deg. C. Further cooling to absolute zero at kelvin 273 Deg. there is absolute stillness. The scientists have achieved almost success in reaching this state and it is the yogi's nirvikalpa samadhi and nothing else. This is attained by laya yoga, manonasha. Scientists, too, have realized that the experiments that they conduct reach a state where the observer and the observed become one! The perceiver and the perceived is one is the rule, the fundamental principle. What remains is the one only. Almost all the scientific theories and hypothesis are subject to change, but not the Veda. The Veda is final and nobody can question a Vedic statement.
Now, the entire universe to its core has been digitized! It starts fro the sub-atomic particles such as fermions and bosons to the mass of the Sun. It starts at 1 to the power of 16 at the higher, outer limit entering outer space where there are no traces of light to -0 to the power of 24 ending almost at the inner-most core of the substance. The Time starts anywhere at -0 to the power of -24 (Chronon) and Space at -0 to the power of 21 (Hadron). Beyond these Time and Space particles are the Lifetrons (particles of Light as Soul/Atman) at -0 to the power of -30 or -34! It is amazing that this electronic particle enters the soils and water and start chemical composition building up xerophytes and the protozoa- earliest life-forms of unicellular amoeba, algae, or zoo-plankton. It has taken millions of years to create life from this earliest simple state to the human scale of creation and much of this remains a mystery. There are different scales of invisible Forces that are explained in the Tantra shastra as devi and devatas in devaloka and the Rishis in tapoloka. The entire creation is explained in the Bhagavad-Gita. Ch.XV. Here the entire universe is seen as an inverted Ashvatha Tree with roots above and branches bearing fruits of action (karma phala) below. Even the Trinity- brahma, vishnu, maheshvara and the devi devata and Rushi muni, the Rks (veda mantra).
The most intriguing part of the Hindu devi devata is that of faces of animal and birds. This has given rise to many misunderstandings. The symbolism of the scriptures cannot be understood by ordinary people. For instance, the face of Lion to narasima deva or the face of the horse to the deity of sama veda, face of goat to the deity of yajur-veda, face of fish to Narayana as the vibhava aspect, the face of donkey to the deity of Rk Veda, a monkey face to the deity of atharva veda, etc. These are mysterious, full of mythological explanation that stand to no reason!
