The Endless Quest

Pancharatra, an ancient Text of over 250 collections called Samhitaa, contain the shastra (equivalent to science that  lays down Rules and Regulations for conduct of experiments) on the ways and conduct of human beings. Generally, all jivas live by instinct with hunger, thirst and cravings for satisfaction of indriyas. Very few rise above this animal level of existence and reach human level (characterized by self-less service, compassion, pure love and sacrifice). Some have reached the highest level of divine existence in human form, too.  This pancharatra is dharma shastra, a code of conduct. There are ways and means of attaining to divine qualities in this compendium of spiritual texts of various schools of thought such as the vaishnava, the shaiva and the shakta, buddhist, not excluded. There are elaborate theories (siddhanta) on spiritual development and ways and means of attaining the highest possible of state of pure consciousness, "the Krishna Consciousness" .
But, is it ever possible to attain to this level of "Krishna-Consciousness" ('krishcon')? Eben Shree Krishna is accused of many qualities not worthy of emulation by others; He is called 'Ranchoddas', meaning, who ran away from responsibilities and  one who adopts unrighteous path (on many occasions during the Mahabharata War? However, these are all mythology not spiritual aspects. We are seeing many a contemporary God-men and God-women accused of sex scams and indulging in crimes of different sorts! How can a person who has reached a certain spiritual height commit such crimes? It only means these God-men are frauds and tricksters. It is not worthy of discussion here.
What is this real quest of a person who is a realized soul, who wants total emancipation and strives for it through various means of yoga?
First and the foremost, these realized souls are convinced of futility of mundane (earthly) existence and have successfully withdrawn from sensuous life. They are 'sthitaprajnya', who stay unperturbed by the happenings in the world. These realized souls makes no difference from the dreams world and waking world activities. They have also conquered time and do not sleep like ordinary people. They are always chanting the name of the Lord, some higher power, almighty, as instructed by their teachers. They do not find any problem in anything, may it be of family, friends, or society! They do not have any boredom, depression or need for entertainment! This is a little difficult to understand, since the greatest problem of people is to while away time. These realized souls happily chant the name of the Lord and spend their time. They want to simply walk into Yama's den. like a tiger into its den! These are a bit difficult to understand for ordinary people since they do not know how to reach that 'level of existence', one of sheer bliss. There is not even a search, or quest, in most of the people. They are busy gossip, with people and things not even concerning them?
The ultimate goal of all humans is, thus, to raise the level of instinctive life one is living, at the animal level, to the highest level of divine existence, one of non-duality and divine conscious-status, God-hood. This is the endless quest, the search for the ultimate truth. This will bring the greatest satisfaction to the jiva for having born in human form. Many great sages have attained this state. Hence, there is no doubt about this.
May be, it takes several lives to get over the instincts, the animal tendencies, the sexual urges, and sensuous life,  and start living like a human being. Evolution is a slow process.
It is much harder to realize the fact that "this world is a transient one, ever-changing, and nothing is real! "It is not that, it is not that", reiterate the sages of the Upanishads. Sri Shankara said, "neti, neti" and we never understood this! Even today, we never believe a certain event as just a drama, not to be believed, even though we have seen it! The mind plays the trick! However, there is divine plan. When we get a bolt from the blue, a sudden shock, when we see the last hope is also shattered, we may or may not realize. such is the nature of this world. Some of the jnyanis like Shankara realized the truth very early in life and departed soon, even before their forties.  Some have lived a Hundred years without any realization. Hence, it is difficult to know who is bestowed with the grace of the Lord, and who realizes the 'truth' in this ever-changing world. But one thing is certain; who ever is a realized soul, that jiva is blessed and it will die a peaceful death and leaves here never to return!
