'The Non-Dual Universe

In the beginning, there was no such a thing as 'Existence' or Non-Existence' as per Nasadiya sukta of Rk Veda Mandala X. What is it then at that point of Time? Is it vacuum? Is it 'shoonya' or Nothingness? It cannot be vacuum since "Nature abhors vacuum" is the adage. It cannot be shoonya that means zero or Nothingness since something cannot come out of 'Nothing'. There must be something that is the seed for all that to come as creation. The word Nothing actually is made of No and Thing! Hence it can be construed that something was already there in an invisible state. Rather, may be, there was something that is beyond our ability to know, understand or perceive. And, that state is called the 'brahmn'.

The term 'brahmn' is used to represent both 'Existence' and 'Non-Existence', sat- asat, sada- asada and such other dualities where nothing is certain; one s not sure what existed, or even something existed or not! However, these doubts are cleared by scriptures that explain origin of the universe. One such is 'Hiranyagarbha'. The Golden Womb consisted of everything and splashes at the instance of the Will of the Lord! Now, another version is that of Vishnu Purana where the Supreme Lord relaxing on the Seven-hooded Adishesha Sri Mahavishnu, felt alone and desired to express Himself in manifold forms! All that appeared at the very moment of His Will was Lakshmi at his Feet, The Lotus that sprouted from His Navel and bloomed on which was seated Brahma, the Creator! Thus everything manifested as if 'He Willed' there manifested His own forms in multitudes of Galaxies, Stars, Planets, Living Forms, including plants, birds, animals and man besides the Devata for each and every desire and wants?

This gives us an idea about the origin of this Universe that we perceive as diversified consisting of multitude of. living beings. However there is the primordial state of 'Nothingness' behind all these on the one hand, and there is almost a Non-dual state of existence that one should find out by constant meditation on the Self. This takes us to the Brahmavidya and Yogashastra that Bhagavan Sri Krishna imparted to His close friend Arjuna. The Non-dual State where He, the Lord, only existed and nothing besides Him. All that we see are just the manifest aspects of Him and nothing else! These are eulogized in the Veda and Upanishad as the doctrines of 'brahmn'- aham brahmasmi, tattvamasi, Atmavai Vedgm sarvam, Ayam Atmaa brahmaa, Atma eva brahma, etc.

Everything manifests out of brahmn and finally dissolves in to this Non-dual Universe.
