The materialistic, objective, phenomenal, transient world that comes within the grip of time, space, and cause and effect is nothing but some sort of names and forms only, and noting else! Anything that we think of and spell out in words or sentences fits into the eight parts of speech (in English). All these objects are put into words of mouth, as an expression- names and forms of objects! There is nothing that we can do about things 'that take a certain form' in course of time and go on changing along with time (including the man as a child!) and we identify them by some name and recognize in some form. The noun and pronoun stand for almost all names of persons, place, animal, or things. One may attribute certain qualities to these, too, as good, bad, ugly or beautiful, etc. Thus, everything is some name quality that includes form or shape.
The worst part of the story of evolution is that nothing is permanent, although every thing persists in one form or the other in time and space! The tragic part of the story is that a child is given a name after birth only to be removed the moment that child is dead! It happens to evry person who dies; the moment one is dead, the name goes and, people call it just a 'body'! Where has the name gone? At best everybody is recognized as so and so only to forget, sooner or later. This is the way of the objective phenomenal world!
Now, as to the objects of desire, less said the better! In fact, nothing exists until the desire creates it. If there is no desire, there is no place for anything. Desire creates the world. A person will not look at food unless he/she is hungry; so also, nobody wants anything unless he/she desires it. Hence, all that exists are objects of desire, created by desire, and end with the death of desire. Now, as to the desire, ambition, aspirations and dreams of a person, it is certainly an illusion. One gets all that he desires but loses in it soon after getting it. All objects ultimately lose their attraction, glamour, sheen or shining the moment the interest of the person in these are lost. A person may aspire for power, position, money, honor, status in society, etc. But, all these lose meaning the moment one sees the futility of acquiring these. It is the very possession that removes the shine! Ultimately, all get disillusioned at the end, no matter what position one held in society. Great Masters have died totally disappointed and disillusioned. People who ruled with a firm hand have died losing their hands (due to paralysis?). There is nothing that is totally satisfying in this world. All that comes from external sources come with limitations of time, kaala. There is death awaiting everybody who is born here since this earth is a death-knell, mrutyu lok. There is nothing that can give satisfaction here since everything is eaten away by time.
Hence, Bhagavan Shree Krishna advises all of us through Arjuna that, "The world is created as an illusion, "maya, by His magic wand! Even the Veda are attractive words only and, will not bring happiness." Further, the Lord advises all of us to withdraw the senses from external objects, sit quiet and take to yoga, silence the fickle mind and see that you enjoy supreme bliss" This happiness is within us all, not somewhere else. It is foolish to search outside for something that is already within us.This is the most beautiful lesson the Lord teaches us. There is no other go but to sit quiet and contemplate on brahmn.
This does not mean that one should not aspire for anything or work for in life. This is not a negative outlook. It is real jnyan, true knowledge, para vidya. Having born, one has to live and, it is better to live with a proper perspective of life. A jnyani is not perturbed by disappointments, failures, poverty, and miseries of life and takes them in right spirits. The attained persons, yogis, are not even bothered about their body and concentrate on brahmn, the realization of life. Ultimate happiness lie in knowing one's true nature! The moment one realizes the true nature of this objective phenomenal world, the nature of the jiva and the secret behind all these creation, one become happy and joyful. Such an attained person loves the world better than others who are interested in their own greed, selfish worldly attainments. One has to tread this journey of life carefully!
