The Battlefield is the symbolic Land of Dualism,
the ‘Kshetra’ of Human Existence (the body, the world, the Field of Knowledge)
and the ‘Kshetrajnya’ (Knower of the Field) is the Lord of the Universe, Shree
Krishna, Supreme Consciousness. The person seated in the carriage is the
embodied soul, Arjuna, driven by the Charioteer, Krishna- ‘The Supreme Soul’.
The horses are the five out-going senses. The strings of hope and fear tie the
horses to the carriage. The elements of Karma and desire are the unseen reins.
The essence of the ‘mukti yoga’ or
‘emancipation of the embodied soul’, liberation of the jiva is explained by the
Lord in the Bhagavad-Gita. A person who wants liberation, eternal happiness,
unending Bliss shall not treat this sensate objective world as real and get too
much involved in it. A wise man will realize the true nature of his Soul i.e.,
“self-Realization ’through ‘atma Jnyan’, knowledge of the Self. The easiest way
is to take to yoga with a purpose to reach ‘nirvikalpa samadhi’ and have ‘God
Realization’. This goal of life has to be realized if one wants liberation from
metempsychosis, cycle of repeated births and deaths on this Mrutyu Lok-.Planet
Earth.
“From whom
this universe emanates, by whom it is sustained after itcame into existence,
and, in whom it finally merges is That
(‘tat’)the Brahman; ‘That’ is to be known”. (Taitt. Upa.).
